Muş
Türkiye’s Largest Private Sector Agricultural Facility
The Muş Alparslan Agricultural Enterprise, affiliated with Yıldız Bitkisel Ürünler under Tiryaki Anadolu companies, covers approximately 4% of the Muş Plain with its 65,000 decares of land, representing 1.7% of all cultivable land in Muş. Planting is carried out across the entire 60,000 decares of avaliable land without construction, with 20% of the cultivable area equipped with an irrigation system. The facility, originally as Alparslan Agricultural Enterprise by the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM) was leased to Berce Beraberce Tarım Geliştiren İşletmeler A.Ş.. in 2012 and subsequently to Tiryaki Agro Holding in 2017. The Muş Alparslan Agricultural Enterprise of Yıldız Bitkisel Ürünler meets a large portion of the local farmers' needs for seeds and forage crops, while 85% of the seed varieties of Yıldız Bitkisel Ürünler are produced in Muş.
Alparslan Agricultural Enterprises has positioned itself as a pioneer in the region by being the first to identify the need for alternative crop patterns in Muş and to initiate their cultivation. In doing so, the enterprise continues to serve as a guiding force for local farmers. Currently, Alparslan Agricultural Enterprises cultivates snack sunflower, oilseed sunflower, canola, and sugar beet, while also maintaining ongoing safflower production for use in the pharmaceutical and dye industries. In non-irrigated areas, red lentils are cultivated, whereas soybean trials are conducted across 500 decares of irrigated land. Given the limited availability of irrigated farmland in the region, the successful red lentil trials carried out by the enterprise are expected to serve as a model for surrounding agricultural communities. Furthermore, in response to the extended growing season driven by climate change, the enterprise is evaluating the feasibility of introducing new crops such as potatoes, melons, and watermelons. These efforts are anticipated to mark a significant advancement in the agricultural landscape of Muş. Designated as the regenerative agriculture base of Anatolia, Tiryaki Anadolu is implementing measures to reduce emissions and the carbon footprint through the use of advanced agricultural technologies on its 13,000-decare farm equipped with an intelligent irrigation system.
